Blogs

Posted in Uncategorized on March 25, 2009 by Paul Wilson

I was just thinking what are blogs? Do we need blogs? Who actually reads our blogs. What do we have blogs for. Who started blogs?

Ok so I will give you my opinion about these questions that I just asked myself. Wow what a weirdo asking yourself questions and then answering them!

1. Blogs are web logs(John Lambert told me that)
2. I believe some people do . Not all people that have
blogs need blogs. I need one because of these
thoughts that I have rolling in my head.
3. Some people really do. I like to read some blogs just
to see what God is doing in somebody’s heart.
Although some people don’t need blogs. A good way
to tell is if they don’t have comments on there. Some
people think that people really care that much about
what they have to say,but the comments really show
if people are reading them.
4. I have no idea, but thank you whoever did.

Well that was a little bit of randomness. I hope that all is well with you . I am excited I will be preaching this Sunday. Next Wednesday too! God has been so good to us. Have a great day tomorrow!

Texas

Posted in Uncategorized on March 16, 2009 by Paul Wilson

Well you guys Texas was amazing. We had a blast. We got to meet some amazing Pastors and their staff. We will be praying about the decision if that is where God wants us. If you would join us in that it would be great. Thanks for all of the calls and emails we love you guys. I do want to go ahead and let people know that we are not starting a church any where. There is no truth to that at all. We love you guys, but that is not in our hearts to do at this moment. The family is doing good and I would love to hear how your life is going so if you have some time call me or email me what is going on. Love you guys!!!

How does it feel?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on February 4, 2009 by Paul Wilson

When God speaks to you how does it feel?  When you hear Him what does it sound like? When He speaks do you always listen?  What about when two people hear different things from God?  These are the types of questions I receive a lot.  I try to ask God these questions because I believe sometimes we come up with these answers because we have become professional Christians.  Which  a lot of times really comes more from us and less from God.  How do we know so much really.  I know what your saying well God gives us a brain.  I know that, but that has become our problem at times.  The Holy Ghost is here as our leader and at times we become our own leader before we even consult with Him.  A mature believer is not a person who has it all together at home and when no one is looking. A mature christian is someone who never gets away from depending on God for his daily bread.  We have to remember that when we are weak He is strong.

My point today was to bring us back to the realization that yes God gives us the ability and gifts to do His will; however we can’t ever think that we can do it without Him.  No matter how successful we look to the American society, Christ is still the answer not anything we can offer by ourselves.

In closing how does it feel when the Creator speaks to you through His Spirit?  I know that I asked a bunch of questions so answer one or two and let me know how you feel about this.

Last night

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on January 22, 2009 by Paul Wilson

Last night I had the awesome privilege of speaking at Intervarsity (a campus ministry at UNCC). It was an amazing nightI preached about ”First Love. The text is found in Revelation chapter 2. I preached somewhat of the same message last week at Vertical. I really felt that God wanted me to share the same message with these college students. What was amazing was that I spoke for 54 minutes and they were glued to what I was saying. Some had tears in their eyes and you could tell that the Lord was breaking hearts. About 15  people responded to the altar calland I know last night was a huge moment in a lot of their lives. I am so thankful that Mike and Charyl Witt asked me to come and speak. Those students are definitely hungry for the Lord. So I would ask that when you pray, pray for them. I love serving the Lord

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Posted in Uncategorized on December 22, 2008 by Paul Wilson

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  We will be traveling to the dirty south for Christmas.  I am so thankful for what God has done this past year and I am looking forward to what He has in store for 2009.  I would like for you to remember somethings while I am gone.

1.  Don’t take a break from praying.  We can’t afford that.  You may have to go to a back room or go for a walk to spend time with God.  Waking up at 5:30am or6am is what works for me the best.  Usually people don’t wake up that early, but also remember that means you can’t stay up past midnight either.  You can take a vacation from your job,but you can’t take a vacation from God or His presence.

2.  Go to a christian church somewhere to worship corporately.  One other thing about this don’t compare where you go to church during this time with your church that you normally go to.  You are there to worship not to say well my church is better.

3.  Witness to someone.  People seem to be receptive during this time of the year.  God is putting you somewhere where you can tell people about Him.  I would love to hear about the people that are saved because of you being obedient to Him.

4.  Study the Word.  So that means when you are packing don’t forget to pack your Bible with you.  If guest are coming over leave your Bible out and use it.  What would be awesome is that you are able to show someone what God showed you this year in His word.

These just are a few things I am going to be trying to do, so hopefully this helped you.  We love you guys and we are so glad that you are in our lives.  We pray that God will keep His hand of protection over you and your family during this time of the year.  We love you and we hope that you have a wonderful time with friends and family.  We love you !

Worried? Scared? Afraid?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on December 3, 2008 by Paul Wilson

You may be thinking about the title of this post and you may be saying well Paul is going to talk about the current shape of America.  Well this is not what I am going to talk about.  The question or the discussion today is why is it that these are feelings that we have when we have trouble in our lives?  Again this is my blog and to those of you that know me know that I am a passionate person and do not think that this is the final answer.  There is only one answer His name is Jesus.  So this is merely my opinion and believe me opinions can change, but the Word never changes and this is my source for this blog.  So let’s talk about this worry, scared and afraid thing.

Hopefully this will help you in your walk with Jesus.  These are some of the reasons I feel we (christians) have these things in our lives.

1.  Lack of prayer-  The Bible talks about this topic a lot and I think that we need to really look at what we call prayer.  It is not a moment of silence.  There should be quiet time involved in prayer ,but this is a relationship and it is a conversation so you must speak out loud.  Husbands try not talking to your wife when she has something she wants to talk about and see what happens.  Yet we sit down and we call prayer our quiet time and we sit for a moment and then we get up and say I prayed today.  That is not it.  It is a conversation between you and the Lord.  I have found in my life that the best time to pray is early.  It is hard, but so worth it.  Jesus taught His disciples to do this.  David talked about seeking Him early.  With this lack of prayer comes  a lack of confidence in God.  I have found that when I have not been praying like I should I find that my problems seem to be so Huge.  This is the most important thing that you can do.  We have to seek Him while He may be found.

2. Lack of Fasting-  Any time that our flesh is stronger than our spirit red flags will start coming up.  We must deny this flesh.  We cannot let our flesh rule us.  We have to take control of our bodies and align them with the Word of God.  This is very important for us to do and do it frequently to really walk as Jesus walked on this earth.  This flesh is bad and their isn’t anything good about you or me,but it is Christ that lives inside of us.  If you get caught up in glorying in your flesh you will fulfill the lust of it so this is very important to making sure that we crucify our flesh so that Christ can be exalted in our lives.

3. Lack of studying the Word-  I am talking about getting you a Bible and a good commentary and studying it.  Not my 5 minute devotion with the Lord stuff.  I believe this is something that will further you in who Christ is.  The truth is the only thing that we can bank on.  Facts even bow down to truth.  You can ask me about that in person because its to hard to write it out.  We have to be people of the Word.  If we get our eyes off of the Word we will start believing in the news and people.  This is a faith walk, but the truth is the Word so I would encourage you to learn the truth.

You may say today well Paul all you told me to do was pray, fast and study the Bible.  Yes that is exactly what I am telling you.  Get back to what got you here.  This is basic and we need to get back to those basics.  This is what keeps you saved and it keeps you from backsliding.  This will keep you from being worried or afraid.  I am sorry I didn’t have some big word for you that will confound your mind.  Maybe you wanted me to tell you about eschatology or the end times, but we can’t get our eyes on the times we have to get our eyes back on Jesus.

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path. Proverbs 3:5

What is He saying to you ?

Posted in Uncategorized on November 18, 2008 by Paul Wilson

Where are you in Christ right now?  Are you praying? Are you studying His word?  If so I would like to hear what God is telling you.  The scripture that says to him that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the church is the most frequent Scripture in Revelations tells me something.  What it tells me is that we need to be people that are hearing from God.  I have been teaching in Planet Zion and that has been our focus and the 7-12 year olds, I believe are doing it.  It is awesome to see those kids going after God.  This past week I saw the teens doing the same.  So my question to you is what is God saying to you?  Are you sure its God?  What is the scripture reference that backs up what He is saying?

I feel like God is speaking to me about a life of prayer and fasting.  Not so I can see some miracle, but so that I can get Paul out of the way.  I believe He is showing me that if I will seek His face I will know His will and I will look more like Him.  I know that  is a general word, but I like it that way.  You know we are always trying to hear that big supernatural word that somebody has for us ,but I have noticed in my life it has always been a simple word that has changed my life.  Honestly most of the time the real words come from my personal time with the Lord.  So if I seem a little weird just know that I am trying to hear from God.
